Rambo, a cult film worn by Sylvester Stallone in 1982, is broadcast this evening on C8. The opportunity to ask the question: will we see the famous green beret in the cinema again in a 6th opus?
“It wasn’t my war! “Colonel!” Ramboan iconic character embodied by Sylvester Stallonehas spanned the ages since its first appearance in 1982 in First Blood, directed by Ted Kotcheff.
Sly performed this Vietnam Veteran Green Beret 5 times. The latest, lastbloodwas released in September 2019. It did not have the expected success, bringing in only $91 million worldwide for a budget of $50 million.
Therefore, has Rambo really bowed out in this film or will we see him again on the screens? On the occasion of the broadcast on C8 of the first part, we ask ourselves the question again.
TOWARDS A RETURN OF THE SUPER-SOLDIER?
Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we will see the super-soldier again in the cinema. Last Blood, subtitle of the last Rambo, was quite explicit, putting an end to the adventure started in 1982.
However, in September 2019, Stallone claimed that the character could eventually return to the small screen, in a series that would tell the origin story of the green beret.
RAMBO ORIGINS?
Aged 76, it would therefore be logical for Sly to pass the baton to a younger comedian. “I always thought of Rambo when he was 16 or 17. He was awesome. I hope they do a prequel. He was the captain of his American football team.
He was the most popular student in his school, a super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe [célèbre joueur de football américain] and the war changed him. If you had seen him, he was the perfect guy”confided Stallone at the microphone of Screening in 2019.
Trained by Colonel Trautman, John Rambo is a relentless war machine deployed by the US military in the Vietnamese jungle. This origin story would aim to tell how the young soldier turned into a ruthless warrior.
For the moment, no such project has been formalized. However, it is not excluded that this will materialize one day given the popularity of the character.
RAMBO AMONG THE INDIANS?
As for Stallone, will he put on Rambo’s headband again? The actor does not consider it. However, he left himself to a little confidence about a hypothetical 6th part, if it were to see the light of day.
For the actor, a new story would only be possible if the soldier was found on an Indian reservation.
“It’s the only place he could go to and survive because the police can’t get in there (reservations are under federal jurisdiction). It’s the only place he could hide and heal. Otherwise, he’s screwed. “he indicated.
In the meantime, we were able to find Sylvester Stallone in The Samaritan, which aired last August on Amazon Prime Video. We will see it at the cinema in Expandable 4expected for October 11, 2023. He will also be the headliner of the series Tulsa Kingwhich premieres November 13 on Paramount+.
This is Stallone’s first major role in a television series. The story follows the journey of Sal, an Italian mobster from New York forced to move to the most unlikely place: Kansas City, Missouri.
The action is set in the present day and the character is on a mission to revive his mafia family in this modern and brutal city. There, Sal meets surprising and naive characters who follow him along his path to power.
