While a third opus is already planned (and entrusted to Jeff Nichols), here are ten questions that remained unanswered at the end of the film signed John Krasinski, in theaters since June 16.
WARNING – The article below contains spoilers on “Without a noise 2”, and in particular its end. So please go your way if you haven’t seen the John Krasinski movie yet.
Released on June 16 in our theaters, Sans un noise 2 will not remain without a sequel. Because a third part is already on the rails, and it was entrusted to Jeff Nichols (Mud, Midnight Special). However, we do not yet know if it will extend the story initiated by John Krasinski, or if it will be a spin-off.
What is certain is that several questions remain unanswered at the end of the feature film worn by Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, which ends, like its predecessor, abruptly, in the middle of an action. Is this one of the consequences of the cuts made by John Krasinski, who admitted that the film had to be a bit longer before he decided to reduce its duration? Anyway, here are some tracks on which the saga could come back soon.
Do monsters have other weaknesses?
Thanks to Episode 1, we know that the creatures that have invaded Earth are vulnerable to the sound emitted by Regan’s (Millicent Simmonds) hearing aid. In the following, we find out that they cannot swim. Are we going to discover new weaknesses in the third opus?
Is the character played by Djimon Hounsou alive?
Its appearance is certainly brief. So much so that we don’t know the name of his character. Neither have we seen his corpse after it was dragged into the garage by one of the monsters. However, there is little chance that he survived, but Djimon Hounsou is a famous actor that we can imagine seeing again in the saga. In a sequel and / or a prequel.
Why is Emmett keeping this body?
New to the saga, Emmett (Cillian Murphy) lost his wife to illness and his son to a monster attack. But why does he keep the body of his beloved? And for what purpose does he continue to draw portraits of his child? To be sure not to forget them? Or remember why he has to survive?
Will Regan be reunited with her family?
What is Regan’s future, now that she is estranged from her family and seems destined to help the Survivors kill the monsters? Will she go from town to town to teach the use of radio frequencies? An option that seems more than likely, even if it would be surprising if she did not find her own.
Who were the attackers on the platform?
While the monsters were fearsome enough already, Emmett and Regan had to deal with hostile survivors at the dock where they take the boat to the island. If the heroes manage to get rid of their attackers, we don’t know who they were or what their intentions were. Is it a sect? Cannibals? Both ?
Will the island’s population separate?
The attack on the community gathered on the island by a monster will inevitably disrupt their daily life and make its inhabitants live in fear. But will they succeed in reconnecting with the way of life they had managed to establish, or will they separate and go in different directions?
But where do monsters come from?
The opening sequence of Without a Sound 2 confirms this: the monsters come from space and arrived on our Earth in the form of meteorites. It remains to be seen which planet they come from, and the reason for their invasion.
More resilient survivors?
If the Abbott family, led by Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski) is at the heart of the Without a Sound saga, the sequel has shown us that other survivors have managed to stay safe. Momentarily for some. Will the third opus make us discover a new community?
What’s next for Evelyn?
At the end of Without a Sound 2, Evelyn is still cloistered in the underground shelter with Marcus (Noah Jupe) and her baby. But we’ve seen, on more than one occasion, that she doesn’t like to wait and the damage to the place will undoubtedly push her out, if only to find Regan. Will we see them again in the Jeff Nichols film, or in another part?
Will Emmett’s injury be fatal to him?
If Regan manages to kill the monster, it still managed to inflict a severe injury on Emmett. But the end credits begin before we know if this one is bad enough to kill him. If the next installment picks up where it ends, there’s no doubt we’ll have the answer.
