Adaptation of the famous video game of the same name, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is led by Jake Gyllenhaal. The athletic actor plays a rebellious prince forced to join forces with the mysterious Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to face the forces of evil and protect an ancient dagger capable of liberating the Sands of Time …

Originally, Golshifteh Farahani was to audition for the role of Tamina in London. But she was arrested at Tehran airport and forced to stay in her homeland for more than six months. The reason ? Iranian authorities condemn his performance in Ridley Scott’s State Lies (released in late 2008). The actress remembers, in the newspaper L’Express in 2015:

“I underwent seven months of interrogation because I was accused of endangering the security of the country by filming State Lies. I risked the death penalty, but I was lucky to be protected by a judge, who is known to have executed thousands of people, but whose son was a fan of mine. He got my passport back and advised me to leave as soon as possible. “

Golshifteh Farahani then went into exile in France to exercise his profession in complete freedom. Little by little, she built her rich film career, turning for prestigious directors such as Louis Garrel, Rachid Bouchareb, Eva Husson or Christophe Honoré. In 2014, she even found Ridley Scott in the biblical peplum Exodus: Gods And Kings.
