Presidential 2022 - eric zemmour and "the beautiful team": culture, cinema and...

Shouldn’t Culture benefit from a sovereign ministry?

The sovereign designates what is attached to the sovereignty of a State. So to the question: do we need a sovereign ministry for culture? The answer is no. But do we need a large Ministry of Culture with real resources? The answer is yes.

Is cinema necessarily a political art? What inspires you about the recovery that can be done around a work, such as “Bac Nord” recently?

Cinema is an ideological weapon, that’s for sure. But this is not the case of Bac Nord precisely. This film does what French cinema no longer does, it shows a reality. This reality is that of the police in the northern districts of Marseille and more broadly in the French cities. So inevitably, it does not please the left who deny it.

Do cinema and series have, among other things, the vocation, in your opinion, of helping to “move the lines” on societal issues (parity, diversity, etc.)?

No. What you call “moving the lines”, I call that promoting political correctness. Cinema is today a massive propaganda tool in the service of the progressive ideology that I am fighting. The cinema would rather have vocation to show the world, to make discover its history, to instruct, to give emotion or to make dream, not to impose the dominant doxa as it is the case today.
