A new line of sustainable clothing made from a large-scale public art installation is coming to London. Pattern Portraits, a series of illuminated patterned flags stretching between the rooftops of Coal Drops Yard created by artist Lauren Godfrey, will be transformed into durable clothing once the installation is complete.
The flags, designed by Godfey in collaboration with textile students from Central St Martins during the lockdown, will be transformed by London-based fashion house VENTURA / Foreman into shirts, jackets, pants and hats. Not only will the flags get a new life, they are made from GOTS certified hemp flamed and are 100% recyclable. Proceeds from the line will be used to fund grants focused on the arts, so it’s also for a good cause.
