WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE ?
WELL WORTH A LOOK ?
If you’re a fan of the Goonies and Riverdale, the series Outer Banks is made for you! From the classic of Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg, the Original Netflix borrows a taste for adventure, and this concept of mysterious treasure hunt with family backdrop. But the heroes here are teenagers, the tone is much more dramatic, and it is impossible not to detect Riverdale in this teen-drama nicely tied up. Exciting, Outer Banks offers a dramaturgy that will crescendo and should encourage binge-watching, even if the whole might have deserved to be a bit more condensed. But this is only a detail: the series can quickly catch its audience with the adventures of this band of somewhat rebellious young people who are part of the modest population of Outer Banks, long and thin strip of sand facing the Atlantic Ocean and made up of many barrier islands.
In the company of John B, Kiara, Pope and JJ, soon joined by Sarah, who comes from the wealthy population of Outer Banks, the viewer will vibrate and be surprised by the many twists and turns that mark this fast-paced series , but who also knows how to take his time and permeate the retina and the spirits. Because if Outer Banks has the shapes of a thriller Breathless, it also bathes in a nostalgic atmosphere of the most beautiful effect, with these sumptuous landscapes of North Carolina often illuminated by the setting sun. Suffice to say, photography has something to do with the success of the show.
Outer Banks is therefore a successful “adventure teen-drama” who knows how to keep going without neglecting the overall aesthetic aspect, quite the contrary. Finally, the Netflix series will make you discover a troop of actors quite enthralling, with a special mention for Chase Stokes, aka John B, who gets his first major role here after having appeared briefly in the first season of Stranger Things. We wouldn’t be surprised if this handsome rebellious kid with a mysterious look, who sometimes reminds us of Marlon Brando, has a good career ahead of him.
