THE SUNDAY FILM
After having finished with the Austin Powers and My Father-in-law…, Jay Roach specializes in true history with political resonance with three television films which start a turn in his career. In 2019, it is for the big screen that the director is pursuing this path with Scandal. Part of a wave of projects born in response to the #MeToo movement, the film looks back on the harassment case that rocked the American television channel Fox News in 2016.
At the center of the story, three strong female characters: Gretchen Carlson (Nicole Kidman), the first to sue Fox News CEO Roger Ailes; Megyn Kelly (Charlize Theron – unrecognizable!), Who also accused him; and Margot Robbie, a fictional character who draws on the experience described by several journalists on the channel.
