Initiated in 1988 with Piège de cristal, the saga diehard continues with 58 minutes to live in 1990, then A day in hell in 1995. Despite its success, it took 12 years for a fourth episode to complete it. After John McTiernan and Renny Harlin, it’s up to Len Wiseman (Underworld 1 and 2) to take the reins of the franchise. In agreement with Bruce Willis, the director wants to make an “old-fashioned” action film, that is to say by going back to basics.
Yes Die Hard 4 – Back to Hell Indeed, it wants to be faithful to tradition through its hero with a grumpy character and scathing replies, the film moves away from the initial trilogy with its high-tech side, the absence of charismatic supporting roles or its PG-13 classification ( while the three previous games were rated R).
This does not prevent it from being a hit in theaters, with 388 million dollars in worldwide receipts. With its 2 million admissions in France, Die Hard 4 however, does less than its predecessor, which had accumulated 3. On AlloCiné, this component is one of the lowest rated in the saga, with an average viewer rating of 3.6 out of 5.
