Master sommelier Xavier Rousset, who also runs Black Book in Soho, Cabotte in the City and Comptoir Blandford in Marylebone, teams up with restaurateur Steve Pineau and cheese and charcuterie expert Phil Bartley to open the Old wine bar and grocery store. Brompton on Old Brompton Road (naturally). The new spot will have a strong European influence and 250 wines will be offered, selected by Pineau and Rousset. Bartley will choose cheese and meat to go with all this wine, and there will be over 80 cheeses and plenty of British cold cuts available for on-site and take-out meals. Old Brompton’s delicatessen and wine element will be ready to use when it opens, with the option of drinking on the outdoor patio.
