Dr. Adeyemi Okunowo, who gave birth to babies, told CNN that a team of specialists had been assembled at the hospital to monitor the pregnancy because of his age.

Indian woman gives birth to twins at 73

Last year, a 73-year-old Indian woman was safely delivered to twin girls after conception by IVF and is said to be the oldest person to have given birth at that age.

Okunowo said that while older women are able to conceive through IVF, doctors must expose the medical risks associated with pregnancy at this age.

“There are age-related medical complications that accompany pregnancy at this age, such as the birth of the premature baby. She is lucky but many may succumb to other complications during or after having a baby,” said he told CNN.
