New Cruella trailer: Emma Stone confronts Emma Thompson

Posted on April 8, 2021 by Chief Editor

A new trailer for Craig Gillepsie’s Cruella has just been unveiled. Emma Stone plays the title role in this film about the origins of the famous Disney villain. The feature film will be released exclusively in theaters on May 26.

Discover the origins of Cruella, the famous villain of the Disney studios. In Craig Gillespie’s film (Me, Tonya), Emma Stone plays the title role while Emma Thompson plays Baroness von Hellman, her rival, owner of Dalmatians …

The feature film is set in London in the 1970s, in the midst of the punk rock movement. A talented crook, Estella is determined to make a name for herself in the fashion world. She befriends two young scoundrels and set up scams of all kinds with them.

One day, her designs were noticed by Baroness von Hellman, a great figure of fashion, terribly chic and horribly snobbish. But their relationship will trigger a series of revelations that will lead Estella to let herself be invaded by her dark side, to the point of giving birth to the ruthless Cruella, a brilliant young woman thirsty for fashion and revenge …

This new trailer, centered on the rivalry between the baroness and the young Estella inevitably makes one think of the Devil dressed in Prada, except that here the student seems to exceed his model. The dogs so coveted by Cruella in the classic 101 Dalmatians are also more present in this second video.

Directed in live action, Cruella is led by Emma Stone (Oscar for Best Actress for La La Land), Emma Thompson (Oscar for Best Actress for Return to Howard End and Reason and Feelings), Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser (The case of Richard Jewell by Clint Eastwood), Emily Beecham (Little Joe), Joel Fry (Yesterday) and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Why Women Kill).

The film will be released in France exclusively in theaters on May 26, subject to theaters reopening.
