THE ESSENTIAL OF THE WEEK!
Choose or Die (04/15): Before returning to the cast of the Sex Education series at the end of the year for a brand new fourth season, the British comedian Asa Butterfield makes a passage through the horror box, via the horror thriller Choose or Die (also known as the preferential title of CURS>R).
In this feature film, two friends embark on a game of a video game from the 80s more real than life. Note the presence in the credits of the legendary interpreter of Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund (in his own role)!
FRIDAY APRIL 15
Anatomy of a Scandal: Adapted from the eponymous bestseller by author Sarah Vaughan, this mini-series designed by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) follows the story of James Whitehouse (Rupert Friend), a seemingly ideal family man embroiled in scandal over a rape accusation. The case begins to sow doubt in the mind of his wife Sarah (Sienna Miller), who will gradually discover the true face of the man she married.
SATURDAY APRIL 16
Man of God : Coming straight from Nollywood (the name given to productions from Nigeria, the two most productive countries in the film industry), this feature film directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters follows the story of a man of faith, at the crossroads paths between his religious beliefs and his desire to start a new life.
TUESDAY APRIL 19
Better Call Saul season 6 (1 episode / week): Rare are the spin-offs to have exceeded in terms of quality the series from which they are the derivative, but many nevertheless believe that Better Call Saul managed to surpass Breaking Bad, yet still considered to this day as one of the best series of the last twenty years.
Delayed due to the heart attack suffered by its main actor Bob Odenkirk, the first part of the sixth season is finally coming to our screens! Remember that the series has already been renewed for a seventh – and final – season, with the confirmed presence of two actors well known to fans of breaking Bad !
Abercrombie & Fitch: A brand on the wire: Documentary novelty of the week, this film by Alison Klayman (director in particular of a passionate firebrand devoted to the sulphurous Steve Bannon) immerses us in the world of fashion, to trace the extraordinary success story of the Abercrombie & Fitch company, specializing in ready-to-wear.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 20
Russian doll season 2: After three years of waiting, the sequel to the series designed and interpreted by Natasha Lyonne finally arrives on Netflix! Launched on the platform in February 2019, the show notably earned the actress a nomination for the Golden Globe for Best Comedic Actress.
As a reminder, the series follows the story of a thirty-year-old party girl, stuck in a time loop seeing her die and wake up in the toilets of her own apartment, in the middle of a birthday party.
Turning : Since the Gomorrah electroshock, transalpine thrillers have experienced unprecedented popularity in our regions. Halfway between detective and comedy, this feature film directed and starring Riccardo Antonaroli follows the unlikely duo formed by a reclusive young man and a dangerous thug.
IT’S ALREADY AVAILABLE AND NOT TO BE MISSED!
solo kotaro season 1: Watch out, little gem! Adapted from the manga Kotarō wa Hitori Gurashi by Mami Tsumura (unreleased in France), solo kotaro follows the story of a four-year-old boy, moving by himself into an apartment building surrounded by neighbors with atypical personalities. Over the course of the stories, Koraro’s past is gradually revealed to us.
More moving than it seems, the series takes us to tears several times, while the unexpected wisdom of the young hero (speaking with a very courteous language, borrowed from the main character of his favorite cartoon) touches us in full heart.
