Netflix today announced the start of two new animated series – Tomb Raider and Skull Island – overseen by Powerhouse Studios.

The Legendary Studios Monsterverse is getting a little bigger. While we are impatiently awaiting the release of Godzilla vs Kong in the cinema, we learn today that an animated series Skull Island will be produced by Netflix. Much like the film released in 2017, it will follow a group of adventurers who try to escape from the island well guarded by the titan Kong, where prehistoric monsters are also hiding. The series will be written by Brian Duffield (Underwater). The Powerhouse studios (Castlevania) will provide entertainment.

They will also be working on another equally exciting project. Netflix is developing an animated series Tomb Raider. And surprise, it will be closely linked to the video game saga rebooted by Square Enix in 2013, in which we found Lara Croft 25 years after the release of the first game. The action will take place just after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This will be the 2nd animated series centered on the adventurer camped in the cinema by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander after Revisioned: Tomb Raider. This time it will be written by Tasha Huo (who also works on The Witcher: Blood Origin for Netflix).

It will take patience before being able to binge-watcher these two new series, since they are only at the very beginning of their development.
