- A mysterious Google product just passed through the FCC.
- The listing labels it as a “wireless streaming device.” Could it be a new Chromecast or Stadia product?
- It certainly isn’t a smartphone, but your guess is as good as ours at the moment.
The most obvious possibility is a new Chromecast. The Chromecast with Google TV launched around this time last year, so it’s possible a sequel or slight alteration to that device is on the way. However, the model number of this mystery Google product — GJQ9T — doesn’t bear any resemblance to any existing Chromecast.
It’s also possible this is a new Stadia product. Maybe it’s a non-Chromecast device that’s strictly for Stadia use? Maybe it will come bundled with Stadia controllers instead of a Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast with Google TV? It’s certainly possible.
This could also be a Nest-branded device. However, that seems the least likely possibility since Google just announced a whole slew of Nest products, so it wouldn’t likely have another one on the docket so soon.
