Available on Disney + in the United States since September 4, the new adaptation of the famous Chinese legend in live action seems to be already enjoying a good career. After having suffered several successive postponements due to the health crisis, the theatrical release of Mulan had indeed been canceled, and Niki Caro’s film directly unveiled on the American platform for the sum of $ 30 per household.
Indeed, according to the site Yahoo Finance (which is based on figures provided by the company 7 Park Data), Mulan’s revenue would already amount to $ 261 million on American soil in just two weeks. By comparison, The Lion King, the last big hit from Disney studios released in theaters last year, had grossed 543 million in the United States over his entire career.
While Christine McCarthy, Disney’s chief financial officer, said the firm was “very satisfied” of these figures, should we prepare for a similar scenario for the next big films of the company? The Marvel feature Black Widow and Soul from Pixar studios, respectively expected in our theaters for October 28 and November 25, could they also be released on Disney +?
In France, however, Mulan will be available for free on the platform from December 4.
