MotoGP continues to tighten the screws on the riders, teams and members of the paddock. For the 2024 season, it proposes a demanding calendar of 22 races, a number of events never seen before throughout the 75-year history of the competition. The provisional proposal presented today by Dorna, the Spanish promoter of the event, recovers the five races in the Iberian Peninsula, four of them in Spain, and seeks to finally debut in Kazakhstan, which finally could not debut in the current campaign due to logistical problems derived from of the war in Ukraine.
Under the racing format sprint With this course inaugurated on Saturdays, the pilots will face a total of 44 scoring tests over eight months of competition. The competition will recover Qatar as the inaugural venue of the World Cup on March 10 after the renovations carried out this season at the Losail international circuit. The 2024 season will end with the Valencia GP at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Cheste on November 17 after a journey that will take competitors to 18 countries spread across four continents.
After a year away from the calendar, the Motorland circuit in Aragon will once again host a World Cup event between August 30 and September 1. The track located in Alcañiz will thus join the Spanish GP in Jerez (April 26-28), the Catalunya GP in Montmeló (May 24-26) and the Valencia GP in Cheste (November 15-17) as fourth World Cup test in Spanish territory. After serving as the inaugural event this season, the Portuguese GP at the Autódromo Internacional del Algarve will be the second event on the calendar in 2024 and will thus postpone the organizers’ plans to establish a rotation between the different circuits of the Iberian Peninsula.
The World Championship will have 11 tests that will coincide with the Formula 1 calendar, which was confirmed at the beginning of July. As in the current campaign, the final stretch of the season will be especially demanding with nine grand prix contests in 12 weeks, with two triplets during the Asian tour. The summer break of almost a month will free the drivers and workers of the event for most of the month of July.
