Marvel: this nod to Star Wars is hidden in several films

In every Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 movie, a character has an arm or a hand cut off. A small tribute that the producer Kevin Feige wanted to pay to the Star Wars saga, known for its multiple amputations.

Whether it’s Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back, C-3PO in A New Hope, Mace Windu in Revenge of the Sith, or Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi, there are many characters in the Star Wars saga who lose an arm or a hand during their adventures, often during a lightsaber duel.

Completely assumed by George Lucas to the point that he wanted to reproduce it in his prelogy, this visual and scriptwriting motif has therefore become one of the many distinctive signs of the franchise. So much so that to pay tribute to him in Phase 2 of his Marvel Cinematic Universe, producer Kevin Feige said he too had slipped an amputation in each film.

“I am obsessed with Star Wars. Initially it was not intentional, but it has become (…) “, , he had thus declared in inteview for Cinema Blend in April 2015, when the journalist referred to this severed hand gimmick.

“It happens in every Star Wars movie, but I kind of looked at it and thought, ‘Is Phase 2 our Empire Strikes Back?’ It’s not exactly the case, but the It’s a little different tone in there. Someone has their arm cut off in every Phase 2 movie. Absolutely every one. “

In order to verify this statement, let’s go back in detail to each of the 6 feature films that make up Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
