Marvel: a character stronger than Thor introduced in phase 4? – Cinema news

Phase IV of the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces new characters as the films and series progress. And one of those faces just might be stronger than Thor.

Warning, spoilers. It is advisable to have seen “Werewolf by Night” before continuing to read this article.

Since WandaVision, the MCU continues its phase IV with a multitude of films and series. Among the latest projects to date, we find the “Marvel Special” Werewolf by Nighta medium-length film by Michael Giacchino which pays homage to horror classics, available on Disney+.

We follow a group of monster hunters gathered at the fearsome Bloodstone Temple after the death of their leader. During a strange ceremony in his memory, the members of this secret organization participate in a mysterious competition, risking their lives, in the hope of recovering a magical relic. This treasure hunt will lead them to face a terrifying monster.

Among the main characters, we discover Jack Russell, a werewolf man embodied by Gael Garcia Bernaland monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly). And it’s this new face introduced to the MCU that grabs our attention.

A character stronger than Thor at Marvel?

In Werewolf by Night, Elsa Bloodstone, heiress of the Bloodstone family, finds herself in possession of the Bloodstone, a gem that gives her yet unexplored powers but which could have consequences for the rest of the MCU.

And certain clues and easter eggs hidden in the medium-length film give us information on the power of the Blood Stone. One of the murals in the Bloodstone mansion shows Odysseus Bloodstone, Elsa’s father, fighting a comic book-like version of Gorr aka the Butcher of the Gods.

This character is a well-known enemy of Thor, who was introduced and embodied by Christian Bale in Thor: Love and Thunderthe fourth part of the adventures of the superhero played by Chris Hemsworth. And if Odysseus Bloodstone was able to measure up to Gorr, that means the wielder of the Bloodstone has godlike abilities.

Incidentally, Werewolf by Night also showed that the Blood Stone weakens the Man-Thing, a powerful creature who is also the protector of the Nexus of Realities in the comics. With her family heritage, her abilities as a monster hunter and the Bloodstone, Elsa Bloodstone becomes a formidable character in the MCU, capable of rubbing shoulders with Thor or even defeating him.

So will she be brought back in other Marvel projects? Maybe well since Kevin Feigethe boss of Marvel Studios, explained in a featurette by Werewolf by Night “that they introduce a world that will definitely become important for the future of the MCU”.

We can speculate on the links of the world of Werewolf by Night with the rest of the MCU but in the comics, Elsa Bloodstone has dealt with the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider but also Blade or the Thunderbolts, Marvel characters who are made to come back or come in the MCU.

For the moment, we don’t know if the character of Elsa Bloodstone will return, but Laura Donnelly is in any case, as she told us:

“Who knows what will happen with Elsa. In any case, I hope there will be other films or series with this fascinating character. If so, I hope my character will be even more badass, with even more black humor.

I would also like us to be able to dive back into her past, her childhood to better understand who she is. How then could she join groups of other heroes like the Midnight Sons, for example. The possibilities are endless and I can’t wait to see what Marvel has in store for us.”
