Lucifer season 5: original songs in the musical episode? – News Series on TV

Scheduled for the coming months on Netflix, part 2 of season 5 of “Lucifer” will notably contain the already eagerly awaited musical episode. But will there be any original songs in this episode or just covers? The showrunner responded.

John P. Fleenor / Netflix

While all Lucifer fans are already wondering when the second part of season 5 will be available on Netflix, after the launch of part 1 on August 21, the showrunners of the series led by Tom Ellis have reserved a nice surprise a few days ago by unveiling a first extract of the upcoming musical episode as part of the DC Fandome. A supercharged sequence during which Lucifer, Chloe (Lauren German), Ella (Aimee Garcia), and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) begin to sing and dance while covering “Another One Bites the Dust” from the group Queen, without the Lord of the Enfers does not quite understand why such a musical impulse seizes him and his colleagues.

But this very special episode of Lucifer, entitled “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam”, will it be entirely composed of covers, like what was done in particular in the musical episode of Grey’s Anatomy, or will it contain there also some original songs composed especially for the occasion, à la Buffy the vampire slayer? Asked by our colleagues from Leisure TVJoe Henderson, one of the two Netflix showrunners, responded bluntly, ending the suspense: “No these are all covers and there is a good reason for that and you will see why”. It remains to be seen what other hits will be covered by Tom Ellis and his partners in this musical episode which should arrive in the coming months on Netflix (most likely in early 2021). The bets are off and, with a show like Lucifer, anything seems possible. Even the wildest assumptions.

Joe Henderson promises in any case a rather crazy episode since he explains, to Télé Loisirs always, that never a chapter of Lucifer will have been so long to turn. “What I can tell you about this musical episode is that it was the longest shoot we’ve done for an episode. It took a lot of preparation time, it was crazy. Ildy (Modrovich, la coshowrunner) wrote this episode and produced it. She did an amazing job. The cast too because they had rehearsals for their scenes and for their choreography, and at the same time they were shooting other episodes. We tried as much as possible to do different kinds of music and musical sequences, and I think we were really successful “.
