Love and Monsters on Netflix: What does the movie look like without special effects? – Cinema News

Netflix takes us in this video on the set of the movie Love and Monsters, in order to understand how the special effects and stunts were made.

Love and Monsters is Netflix’s latest hit. Initially planned to be screened in theaters, its release was first postponed and then canceled by Paramount after theaters closed around the world.

Available on VOD in the United States and streaming in the rest of the world, it is therefore here that we can discover this nice SF film worn by Dylan O’Brien. A bad for a good, even if our screens do not necessarily do justice to the remarkable work carried out by the studios Mr. X. on the bestiary of the film: they gave life to kaiju animals that we are happy not to meet in real life! A visual feat rewarded with an Oscar nomination in the visual effects category.

Speaking of which, this video released by Netflix takes us behind the scenes of the film. She compares two scenes: one taken on set and the second, enriched by special effects. We see Dylan O’Brien being thrown into the air and confronting creatures sometimes invisible and added in post-production.

Interestingly, the teams seem to have mixed VFX and puppets, like Mavis and the first creature Joel faces. A video that allows us to appreciate a little more the magic of cinema!
