London Cocktail Week 2020 | Eat & Drink
It’s been a tough year for the beverage industry, but things are looking up, especially as London Cocktail Week, the city’s biggest alcohol and bar celebration, is back for 2020. And this time it’s really better than ever as the festival continues. a whole MONTH.
As in previous years, a £ 15 festival bracelet gives you access to £ 6 signing services at hundreds of bars (all with high health and safety protocols). If you love whiskey, The Sun Tavern is well worth a visit – not only is the bar fully stocked, but their LCW service, the Wee Swallie, is made with 12 year old Aberfeldy whiskey, oloroso sherry, ginger ale and salted mead.
In addition to services at £ 6 and alcohol-free options at £ 4 for those without sauce, many bars will also mix Moët & Chandon Champagne cocktails at £ 9. The basement bar Nine Lives, which has a zero waste philosophy, is one of them, serving Grapefruit 75 made with Tanqueray No.TEN gin, fresh pink grapefruit juice, thyme sugar, Moët & Chandon champagne and an absinthe spritz. The festival pass is valid for the entire month, so you have plenty of time to roam around the bars and try all of those drinks.
The Cocktail Village isn’t returning for 2020, but a slew of socially distant events and pop-ups are taking place in bars across the city, including tastings and masterclasses at Whiskey House at Goods Way in King’s Cross; a VR experience at the Laphroaig library at l’Oriole; and a Jack Daniel takeover of the London Shuffle Club.
And if you’re not quite ready to hit the bars in person, LCW has partnered with The Drinks Drop to offer a selection of £ 6 signature services nationwide. Many tastings and masterclasses will also be digitally available so you can create your own festival at home. CHEERS.
