On July 21, Kaamelott fans will finally be able to discover the feature film directed by Alexandre Astier. Bruno Salomone, interpreter of Caius Camillus in the series, recently revealed that he would not be in the game.
Originally, Kaamelott – First part was to land in French theaters on July 29, 2020. Due to the health crisis, the film directed by Alexandre Astier has been postponed several times.
The fans, very impatient at the idea of finally discovering the sequel to the cult series, had to take their troubles patiently. Finally, the feature film will indeed be released on July 21, almost a year late.
For his film, Alexandre Astier brought together a high-level cast: Christian Clavier, Clovis Cornillac, Géraldine Nakache, Guillaume Gallienne, Antoine de Caunes and even the singer Sting!
However, the director did not call on his sidekick Bruno Salomone, who played Caius Camillus in the series.
The actor, interviewed by TV Mag on the set of Buzz TV, revealed that he would not be present in the feature film. “I am not in Kaamelott – first part. I am very disappointed”, deplores Salomone.
It’s Alexandre Astier, we have to yell at him! I don’t know what he did. I would even have made a guy who goes in the background and says nothing.
“It’s Alexandre Astier, you have to yell at him! I don’t know what he did. I would even have made a guy who passes in the background and says nothing. I would have liked to do that. But no , nothing”, adds the actor.
The interpreter of the representative of the Roman forces in Brittany however understands the choice of Alexandre Astier:
“I don’t know when it happens but it’s not at the time when there was Caius Camillus, my character. They were room mates”, recalls the artist.
“I loved working with Alexandre Astier because he’s a little genius. He was directing me without looking at me. I found it great that he conducts by ear. He is a musician, he plays five instruments. I think it’s super nice, because I’m sensitive to sound “, explains Bruno Salomone.
Alexandre Astier is a little genius.
“Suddenly, to have someone who is also sensitive to it … Because we cannot cheat with the voice … We feel the troubles, we feel the error, we feel the guy cheating, we feel everything. So it was super exciting. And then he’s down to the comma, he doesn’t want us to change a word because he’s precise, he knows what he’s doing. And it’s nice to have someone who knows what he is doing “, concludes the actor.
As a reminder, Kaamelott – First part takes place in 484, ten years after Lancelot took power. He organizes a witch hunt – aided by Saxon mercenaries – to find Arthur and his knights, now divided and dispersed.
See you on July 21 in theaters!
