Released in our theaters in December 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle totaled 3.4 million admissions in France and garnered more than $ 962 million in international box office revenue for an estimated budget of 90 million.
Unexpected results which quickly push producers to start the sequel entitled Jumanji: Next Level. Released 2 years later, the second opus recorded 800 million dollars internationally and totaled 3.2 million admissions in France. Suites are then very quickly considered.
In the third movie (since Joe Johnson’s movie is considered to be the 1st), the teens are forced back into the game to save one of them, but they discover a totally unexpected world. And the end of the second part easily lets spectators think that a sequel is in preparation.
Asked by the site Collider in April 2020 for the promotion of the Next Level DVD, director Jake Kasdan confessed that he was just starting to look into the fourth feature film: “We’re just starting to talk about all of this. We were just starting discussions when the global pandemic arrived.
We love working together and we loved making these films. (…) There will be a third film, but at the moment we are trying to determine what it will be. “
We are planning big things
Almost a year later, in March 2021, producer Hiram Garcia told the site Comicbook.com that the 4 main actors will be back for this new opus and claim to have big projects.
“We talk about it, we often have discussions with the whole group that worked on the films, it’s a real family. We started discussing around the 4th part. I can’t tell you anything yet, but it is one of our biggest projects, one of our favorites too. We’re planning big things. It’s all on fire. “

As a reminder, at the end of Next Level, animals escaped from the game to enter our world. So it’s a safe bet that the next film will take place in our world and that the quartet will try to put things in order.
The film is still in writing and the various shootings (in particular Black Adam carried by Dwayne Johnson) having fallen behind because of the Covid-19, Jumanji 4 should not be released for 2 years. But the fans can be reassured nonetheless: a sequel is well planned.
