OSS 117 is invited to close the Cannes Film Festival! The irresistible agent, camped by Jean Dujardin, will close the event with the third part of his adventures, “OSS 117: Red Alert in Black Africa”, directed by Nicolas Bedos.
After Hors Normes by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano in 2019, the “Last Screening” of the Cannes Film Festival will be devoted to OSS 117. OSS 117: Red alert in black Africa, directed by Nicolas Bedos, will be screened on Saturday July 17 in the Grand Théâtre Lumière, during the Palmarès evening.
“By renaming the closing film “The Last Screening”, the Festival de Cannes wishes to reconnect with its tradition of the ultimate big projection, like the big evenings where ET the extra-terrestrial by Steven Spielberg (in the ‘old Palace, in 1982) or Thelma and Louise by Ridley Scott (in the new one, in 1991)“, indicates the Cannes Film Festival in its press release.
In this third part, whose action takes place in 1981, Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, alias OSS 117 (Jean Dujardin), invites us to follow him in a new mission, more delicate, more perilous and more torrid than ever. He will be forced to team up with a young colleague, the promising OSS 1001 (Pierre Niney).
Originally scheduled for release in France in February 2021, OSS 117, Alerte rouge en Afrique noire will then be released nationally on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
As a reminder, the Cannes Film Festival will open on Tuesday July 6 with Leos Carax’s film, Annette. The Awards will be unveiled on Saturday July 17 by the Jury chaired by American filmmaker Spike Lee.
