Passionate about the big and small screen and fascinated by actors, Marine has very eclectic tastes. She nevertheless has a preference for American cinema and devours everything that comes her way, from the huge blockbuster to the smallest independent film.

Currently promoting the violent “The Suicide Squad”, the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy” has assured that Marvel Studios could also produce R-rated films in the future.

In the United States, most superhero movies are rated PG-13, meaning they are not recommended for those under the age of 13 without parental permission. But some containing scenes of violence, nudity or even coarse language obtain an R classification.

This means that they are forbidden to those under 17 years old unaccompanied by an adult. What studios generally try to avoid, which prefer their productions to be visible to as many people as possible.

However, characters sometimes require an R classification to remain as faithful as possible to the comics from which they come. This is why the Deadpool movies were rated R and they should stay that way now that the hero is in Disney’s fold. But could other Marvel movies go this route? Yes, if James Gunn is to be believed.

MORE VIOLENT MOVIES IN THE FUTURE OF THE MCU

Asked by Indiewire On the possibility of R-rated MCU feature films, the director, who earned that rating for his currently showing The Suicide Squad, replied:

I think they will, I’m pretty sure they will.

On the other hand, the filmmaker does not want this to be the case with his next production, Guardians of the Galaxy 3. “Guardians movies are family movies so it’s different. People say to me, ‘Well, they let you make an R-rated movie. What would The Guardians be like if it was R-rated?’ And I say ‘But he’s not’”, He explained.

And James Gunn added that he still wouldn’t be against an R-rated spin-off on Drax the Destroyer in order to exploit his barbaric side. In the future, characters like Wolverine, the Punisher or Blade could benefit from receiving such a classification.
