Instagram will soon kill ‘Swipe-Up’ links in favor of Link Stickers

Instagram will soon stop using ‘Swipe Up’ links and instead use Link Stickers

Instagram will stop Swipe Up links beginning August 30.
These stickers will be replaced with new Link Stickers.

Instagram has removed the Swipe-Up links from stories. The popular feature is used by brands and content creators to direct users to their online stores or websites. Unfortunately, Swipe Uplinks will cease to exist on August 30.

TechCrunch reports that Instagram users who had previously been able to access Swipe-Up links can now use new Link Stickers.

Jane Manchun Wong, an app researcher, first noticed Instagram’s announcement regarding Link Stickers. According to the company, the feature has been in development since June. It was only available to a few users at this point, but the company plans to roll it out to more people by the end of August. Link Stickers will be available to creators and businesses who have been verified and have a sufficient number of followers.

Link Stickers offer a few advantages over Swipe-Up. The creators can choose from many styles and resize stickers to place them wherever they wish in their stories.

Link Stickers allow viewers to respond to stories and post comments. This was not possible before for posts that had Swipe-Up Links.

Instagram may also expand Link Stickers to other accounts in the future.
