DO NOT CUT BEFORE CUT!

As the Cannes Film Festival 2022 prepares to shine the light on the seventh art, from May 17 to 28, FILMO is putting the dishes in the big ones with the exclusive availability of Don’t cut!. If this title means nothing to you, it is quite simply the work that inspired Cut!the opening film of this 75th edition of the event.

Before diving into this remake directed by Michel Hazanaviciuswith Berenice Bejo and Romain Duris as headliners, the original feature film is unveiled on the platform. Released in 2017, Don’t Cut! is a Japanese horror comedy signed from A to Z by Shin’ichirō Ueda.

We find a team in the middle of filming a zombie film that they want to conceive in a single and unique sequence shot… all within an abandoned warehouse of the Second World War. If the atmosphere between the actors and the director is execrable, everything degenerates when real zombies arise and cause panic! A burlesque, funny, astonishing mise en abyme that has become legendary for many moviegoers, to be found only on FILMO.

A SHOCK AND DARK DRAMA

Awarded at the Venice Film Festival in 2019 in the Horizons section as best director, the Chilean filmmaker Theo Court signs an oppressive and hard-hitting film with white on white, available from May 12 exclusively on FILMO.

With this drama, his second feature film after Ocaso, he lifts the veil on a dark chapter in history: the genocide of the Selk’nam (also known as Onas), an indigenous people settled in Tierra del Fuego in southern Chile. A massacre of a population that has now disappeared, told through the eyes of a photographer who witnessed this violence and this suffering.

It was by discovering real photographs of the extermination of the Selk’nam, at the hands of the men of the wealthy owner Julius Popper, that the idea for this film was born in the mind of the director. The latter, driven by the question of representation and staging by the perpetrators, highlights here the use of images as a tool of power, as he entrusted it in 2021.

This feature film, candidate for the Oscar for best foreign film for Chile in 2022, was particularly praised by the filmmaker and screenwriter Pablo Larrain (spencer), which describes it as “really interesting, strange and extremely violent” as reported variety.

Discover now the poignant story of Blanc sur blanc, with Alfredo Castro (Tony Manero, No), Lars Rudolph and Lola Rubio, exclusively on FILMO.
