House of the Dragon: Rhaenyra, Alicent, Laenor… who are the new interpreters of these…

With the first season of House of the Dragon containing several time jumps, the performers of some characters were replaced along the way. Episode 6 marking a 10-year jump, we take stock of the new faces.

madness Game Of Thrones is back on TV with its first spin-off House of the Dragon ! The opportunity for fans to find Westeros but also to discover characters from the past since this derivative series is centered on the Targaryens, around 170 before the events of Game of Thrones.

With Game of Thrones, viewers have seen the cast grow and evolve over eight seasons. But that won’t be the case for House of the Dragon, which will span several decades pretty quickly. The first season will contain a ten-year time jump, and that has implications for the cast.

Indeed, many characters are impacted by this jump in time. First up are Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the King’s Hand daughter and new Queen Alicent Hightower, Princess Laena Velaryon, and Prince Laenor Velaryon.

And if we are to believe the co-creator of the series Ryan Condalthis decision to call on several actors for these roles was taken very early. “It’s coquetry, but I think it works, having watched the series several times”the showrunner told Insider.

“The characters who are really children at the beginning are the ones who change interpreters along the way. And the people who are already adults when we discover them for the first time, we age them thanks to the hairstyles and the make-up. And sometimes , the actors change their voices.”

Halfway through the first season, the plot of House of the Dragon will jump in time ten years and we will therefore see the same characters aroused being embodied by other actors because they will have grown up.

Obviously, the baby and child characters will also change interpreters, like the Targaryen and Velaryon children from the different unions between the two families.
