The heirs of Maurizio Gucci are unhappy with the cast of Ridley Scott’s film currently being filmed. Worn by Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, Camille Cottin, Al Pacino and Jared Leto, House of Gucci is due out in November.
Currently filming in Rome, Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci is already the subject of controversy in Italy. In an interview with the site The Associated Press, the great-grandchildren of Guccio Gucci, who founded the luxury house a century ago in Florence, ask the director to “respect the heritage of their family”.
Patrizia Gucci, one of Maurizio Gucci’s cousins (played by Adam Driver in the feature film), for her part, fears that the film goes beyond the framework of detective history and interferes in the private lives of the heirs of the House Gucci.
“We are really disappointed, and I speak on behalf of the family “, she told The Associated Press. “They steal the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system …
House of Gucci is inspired by the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamor, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden, which chronicles the murder of Maurizio Gucci in 1995 and the trial of his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, played by Lady Gaga. The latter served 16 years in prison for having ordered the murder.
Casting side, Adam Driver and Lady Gaga are surrounded by Camille Cottin, who plays Paola Franchi, the woman for whom Maurizio left Patrizia, Al Pacino plays Aldo Gucci, who allowed the brand to shine in the world, while Jared Leto , unrecognizable, is Aldo’s son Paolo Gucci, father of Patrizia Gucci.
Patrizia Gucci also complains about Al Pacino’s choice to play her grandfather, who she says was “a very handsome man, like all Gucci, very tall, blue eyes and very elegant”.
Maurizio Gucci’s cousin then said that the family “will decide what action to take after seeing the film”. In the meantime, the latter did not fail to contact Giannina Facio, wife of Ridley Scott, in order to obtain clarification on the scope of the film, but received no response.
Ridley Scott for his part did not wish to answer and continues the shooting of his expected feature film in theaters next November.
