Halloween kills

In theaters since October 20, 2021

The second installment of David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy hits the road for Halloween. Postponed for a year because of the pandemic, Halloween kills takes place just after the events of the previous opus. Still worn by Jamie lee Curtis, the interpreter of the iconic Laurie Strode, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak (respectively daughter and granddaughter of Laurie), the feature film is produced by Jason Blum through his company Blumhouse.

With an estimated budget of $ 10 million, the first film – which was a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 film – grossed $ 255 million worldwide.

Co-written by David Gordon Green, Danny McBride and Scott Teems, the sequels promise to be awe-inspiring if we are to believe the words of Jamie Lee Curtis, who told Collider in September 2019: “What I love about director and screenwriter Danny McBride is that they made the connection with 40 years of history. Now they’re really going to “undo” the whole first movie, they’re going to bring back all the characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978.

As for the third film, it will literally be a very powerful study of violence. (…) Trust me, I promise you that David’s way of completing this trilogy is sensational.“The last opus, soberly titled Halloween Ends, will be released in October 2022.

In theaters since October 27, 2021

Directed by Scott Cooper (Hostiles), of which it is the first horror film, and produced by Guillermo Del Toro, Affamés is adapted from the book by Nick Antosca, The Quiet Boy. The latter also co-wrote the adaptation with Cooper and Henry Chaisson.

In a small mining town in Oregon, a schoolteacher and her police brother investigate a young schoolboy. The secrets of the latter will lead to frightening consequences. It is particularly about Wendigo, a supernatural creature from the mythology of the Algonquian First Nations of Canada.

Worn by Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Graham Greene and young Jeremy T. Thomas, the film was postponed several times before finally being released on October 27.

In theaters since October 27, 2021

Fabrice Eboué tries his hand at genre film! Used to changing genre from film to film, the actor, screenwriter, director and comedian embarks on a horrific comedy, with one of the craziest pitches of the year! The story of a butcher couple who will start murdering vegans and selling vegans meat!

If Barbaque remains above all a comedy with a totally funny humor, the film plays a lot with the codes of the horror film and reserves us some very bloody scenes, which are also worth the feature film a ban under 12 years.

Last night in Soho

Release November 10, 2021

17 years after Shaun of the dead and his zombies, British director Edgar Wright returns to horror with Last Night in Soho. More serious than the comedy worn by his friends Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, this horror thriller is led by Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, Thomasin McKenzie and Diana Rigg (whose last appearance in the cinema is).

He follows a young girl, passionate about fashion, who mysteriously manages to travel to the 1960s. There she meets her idol, a dazzling singer in the making. But the London of the 1960s is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with obscure consequences.

Asked by MTV in early 2020, Anya Taylor-Joy declared that the images she had seen had terrified her. “It’s very claustrophobic. The colors are really intense. It’s a well-directed acid trip. I think people will really like it. You certainly won’t be bored.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

Release on November 24, 2021

Five years after the end of the saga initiated by Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich, the Resident Evil saga is getting a makeover in the cinema, with a reboot that is more faithful to the games from which it is inspired.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is inspired by the first two games of the saga. The story takes place in two separate locations: the mansion, where Jill (Hannah John-Kamen), Chris (Robbie Amell) and members of the STARS unit will make funny discoveries in each room. And the police station, theater of the misadventures of Leon (Avan Jogia) and Claire (Kaya Scodelario).

The latter is one of the engines of the plot. It is her will to bring down Umbrella Corporation by revealing her experiences in the open that drives her to Raccoon City, unlike the game where we met her when she was looking for her brother Chris, without knowing the evil company. which gave birth to zombies and other terrifying creatures.

The calendar

Release December 1, 2021

This Franco-Belgian horror film by Patrick Ridremont follows Eva, a young woman with paraplegia for three years. For her birthday, she receives a strange Advent calendar as a gift.

But these are not the traditional sweets that she discovers every day, but more disturbing surprises, sometimes pleasant, often terrifying, and more and more bloody.

Led by Eugénie Derouand, seen recently in the Paris Police 1900 series where she plays Jeanne Chauvin, this feature film came to the director’s mind thanks to his sister-in-law, passionate about Advent calendars.

He specifies : ” with it, from December 1st, the 24 windows are open and the 24 candies are swallowed up! I said to myself that there was material to exploit this device. In a natural way, I mixed up this comedy story at the start – my sister-in-law who gobbles up all 24 candies at once – with this desire to cause concern.. “

María and Ingvar live in seclusion with their flock of sheep on a farm in Iceland. When they discover a mysterious newborn baby, they decide to keep and raise him as their child. This new perspective brings a lot of happiness to the couple, but nature has one last surprise in store for them …

As we wrote during its presentation at Cannes last July, Lamb is a work that is based on suspense, mystery and revealing its secrets would be doing it a disservice. Visual effects supervisor on big productions like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or Prometheus, Icelandic director Valdimar Jóhannsson signs a personal object that stays in mind. Too strange and disturbing to fit it into a specific genre, it is a film that plays on different tones – sometimes a supernatural thriller, sometimes a family drama.

A Perfect Enemy

If it does not belong to the genre of horror film, let’s evoke this Spanish thriller whose disturbing atmosphere promises some chills. Director Kike Maillo’s new film is an adaptation of a novel by Amélie Nothomb, Enemy cosmetics.

The pitch of the film: a famous architect is stopped by a strange young woman in a Parisian airport. More and more invasive, it will make him miss his flight. He will gradually realize that their meeting is not due to chance …

On January 12, 2022, Ghostface and his famous white mask will be back in theaters for a new series of murders!

The alumni will be back, namely Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and, of course, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell).

How will the film succeed in perpetuating the legacy of the saga initiated by Wes Craven at the end of the 90s? Response in a little less than 3 months!

Fabrice Du Welz and Benoît Poelvoorde: second! Less than two years after Adoration, released just before the pandemic hit theaters head-on, the Belgian director finds his compatriot. But he makes him, this time, the main character of Inexorable: a writer lacking inspiration who moves with his wife into the huge mansion they have just inherited, and faces a series of events that s ‘have been going on since Gloria arrived home.

Incarnated by Alba Gaïa Bellugi, seen in the 3 x Manon series, the latter concentrates most of the mystery surrounding the story. It is therefore better to know as little as possible about this impeccably staged thriller (with a play on colors). The filmmaker’s aficionados will find some of his favorite themes there …

After the werewolf Teddy last year, it is a franchophone Ogre who thrilled the Deauville Festival at the start of the school year. For his second feature film after Belleville Story, Arnaud Malherbe (creator of the Chefs and Moloch series) sets his sights on a rare monster in cinema. And he puts him in the path of a mother and her son who move to a new village to escape a painful past. There remains an atmosphere worthy of a fairy tale at times, and the striking appearances of the creature.
