For his first day of filming on “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, Daniel Radcliffe had to manage an accessory that bothered him to the point of hurting him: contact lenses.

A first day of filming can sometimes stress the most accomplished actors. But imagine living that of a gigantic franchise at just 11 years old. The pressure is there, the innocence too, which protects against certain things, then a propsman comes to see you and puts you lenses. And there, everything changes …

It’s September 29, 2000, and the first day of filming of the planned 169 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Since feature films are most often shot out of order depending on the sets and actors available, the first boxed scene is the last in the film, when the children say goodbye to Hagrid.

By his own admission in the documentary The Magic Begins, Present on the Blu-ray edition of the film, Daniel Radcliffe, the interpreter of Harry, is not the most reassured that day:

“I was terrified, mostly because [qu’il] there were lots of extras and I thought they all wanted to know who I was. It was scary because I was trying to mix with the crowd and they were all looking for me. “

And as if that weren’t enough, the team is trying to get the actor to wear lenses that will make the situation worse, as producer David Heyman recounts:

That first day, we were trying to make Dan have green eyes, like in the book, so Dan wore contact lenses. But since he was allergic to them, we ended up removing them.

Heyman continues: “So for the last scene, the farewell to Hagrid scene, you can see that he has almost weeping eyes and his eyes are a little swollen, it looks like he is going to cry. It probably was, but he never complained. The lenses were taken off and he’s never had green eyes since. “

The fans will therefore do with, from day 2 of shooting and in all the following films of the saga, Harry Potter will have blue eyes, especially to spare his interpreter an ordeal.

This choice of production does not prevent this first film from being a hit (974.5 million dollars reported worldwide), and a sequel is immediately launched as soon as the first figures fall, and before the young actors Growing Too Much: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

These actors have appeared in the Harry Potter franchise and at Marvel:
