Harley Quinn in duet with Poison Ivy: Margot Robbie insists on Warner and DC

Expected in “The Suicide Squad” during the summer, Margot Robbie has big plans for Harley Quinn. And in particular a feature film where she would team up with Poison Ivy.

Warner Bros. Pictures

On July 28, The Suicide Squad will hit our screens. And will mark the third appearance of Harley Quinn in the cinema, in the guise of Margot Robbie. According to James Gunn, who succeeds David Ayer behind the camera, any character will be able to die, but it seems unlikely that the ex-companion of the Joker will be among the dead given his popularity with the general public.

In an interview given to Den of Geek, Margot Robbie even suggests that she has more ideas for the character born in the animated series Batman in 1992. And that she dreams of participating in a big screen adaptation of the comic books where it is about the cohabitation, friendship and love between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

“Believe me, I keep talking about it [à Warner et DC Films]”, explains the actress. “I think they must be sick from hearing me talk about it, but I keep telling them ‘Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy. Come on, let’s do it.’ I would really love to see Harley and Poison Ivy’s relationship brought to the big screen. It would be so fun. I keep harassing them, don’t worry. “

A project that could have materialized a few years ago: when David Ayer was working on an adaptation of the comic book “Gotham City Sirens”, which features Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Falling in love with the characters of Huntress and Black Canary, less known to the general public, Margot Robbie then wanted to give them their chance on the big screen, with what has become Birds of Prey, directed by Cathy Yan.

It would also be easier to introduce Poison Ivy in a Birds of Prey sequel than in a new Suicide Squad. Because the feature film of Cathy Yan is also inspired by comic books on Harley Quinn signed Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti between 2014 and 2018, where we regularly meet Batman’s enemy and friend of plants.

If the project were to be successful, her future interpreter would become the second actress to play Poison Ivy in the cinema, after Uma Thurman in Batman & Robin. In the meantime, it is on the small screen that she is illustrated thanks to the excellent animated series on Harley Quinn, whose season 3 is expected this year.

Next meeting with Margot Robbie: “The Suicide Squad”, July 28
