Grey’s Anatomy season 17: Mark and Lexie return in episode 10

Posted on April 3, 2021 by Chief Editor

The returns are linked in season 17 of “Grey’s Anatomy”. After Derek Shepherd and George O’Malley, it’s Lexie Gray and Mark Sloane’s turn to visit Meredith.

Warning, this article contains spoilers on season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy, still unpublished in France on TF1. If you don’t want to know anything, don’t read on!

While we thought that the writers of Grey’s Anatomy had finished surprising us, they found a way to create the surprise in episode 10 of season 17 broadcast last night in the United States.

The promotional trailer posted last week at the end of episode 9 showed Lexie Gray, played by Chyler Leigh, joining Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) on the imaginary beach she has been on since the start of the season.

The fans therefore thought that they would only be entitled to the reunion between the two sisters last night. What they got … but with a twist. Lexie was indeed joined by Mark Sloane (Eric Dane), who died like her in the plane crash in the finale of season 8.

Between them, they will try to convince Meredith to leave this beach in order to find her family and her colleagues.

Besides Eric Dane and Chyler Leigh, this season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy has seen the return of two other iconic doctors who died tragically: Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) who appeared in several episodes, and George O’Malley (TR Knight), who made a surprise return last December.

By the way, Sarah Drew, who camped for 8 seasons April Kepner, will also return in this season, but in the real world this time, her character still alive.

This Mark Sloane and Lexie Gray cameo also marks the end of appearances of tragically missing characters in Grey’s Anatomy, since the episode ends with Meredith waking up from the coma in which she has been plunged for several weeks.
