Grey’s Anatomy, season 19: which actors are back?
Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy will be marked by the prolonged absence of its star. In effect, Ellen Pompeowho has slipped into Meredith’s blouse since the start of the medical series, has decided to partially move away from film sets.
As previously announced, the actress will only appear in “limited capacity” this year. Thus, she will only participate in eight episodes. Nevertheless, she will take care of recording the famous monologue that opens and closes the episodes. Therefore, Scott Speedman who plays Nick (the new darling of our heroine) will also be less present during this season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy. He is therefore demoted to regular acting.
On the other hand, the rest of the recurring cast will be fully back. Thereby, Chandra Wilson (Bailey) James Pickens Jr. (Richard), Kevin McKidd (Owen), Kim Raver (Teddy), Kelly McCreary (Teddy), Anthony Hill (winston), Caterina Scorsone (Amelia), Camilla Luddington (Jo), Chris Carmack (Link) and Jake Borelli (Schmitt) will make their comeback at the start of the school year.
Finally, great news: Kate Walsh, Addison’s interpreter will also be there! Already back in season 18, she will return to Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital to lend a hand to her colleagues. Without a doubt, the will of the production to reinstate the former headliner of the spin-off Private Practice is done in order to compensate for the absence of Ellen Pompeo / Meredith to come…
Grey’s Anatomy, season 19: who are the new actors?
Five interns will take their first steps in medicine in season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy… and five new actors will therefore add their names to the credits. Niko Terho will play Lucas, a student determined to prove himself. Adelaide Kane will play the impulsive Jules… who has already slept with Link!
Mika will be performed by Midori Francis. This character will be a jokester who knows how to turn her weaknesses into strengths. Harry Shum Jr. will slip into the skin of Blue, a very intelligent and competitive intern. Finally, Alexis Floyd will lend her features to Simone, a girl who does not want to work there because of a painful past linked to the hospital…
Caterina Scorsone has already tweeted about the recruits landing at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital and raved about them. She wrote on July 31, 2022 on her account: “(…) The new ones are exciting and magnificent. Inside and out. Let’s go.”
Grey’s Anatomy, season 19: what are the plots?
At the end of season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy, the future of many characters remains uncertain. While Meredith planned to live in Minnesota with Nick, the couple is torn apart after the painful loss of a patient. She summons him to go back there alone and decides to stay at Gray Sloan… of which she becomes the interim Chef because Bailey has resigned! Meredith and Nick will they be able to recover from this crisis?
Richard and Catherine go on sabbatical, while Owen and Teddy leave town after getting caught helping patients die with dignity…but illegally. Maggie wonders if she and Winston married too quickly, while Amelia and Kai exchange a kiss again…Jo has broken up with Todd and Link finally thinks that his best friend may mean more to him than he does. didn’t think so.
What surprises awaits us next? In the first trailer revealed by ABC, it is in any case indicated that these future components will be placed under the sign of the second chance.
Grey’s Anatomy, season 19: when will the new episodes be broadcast?

Grey’s Anatomy, season 19: will the series end this year?
Every year, this question burns everyone’s lips: will this season be the last of the series? It is however clear that the more time passes, the more American fiction seems indestructible! Shonda Rhimesthe creator of the medical drama, has always ruled: Grey’s Anatomy would end when Ellen Pompeo decided to leave…
For these new episodes, the headliner will be absent for more than half of season 19 but the adventures of the doctors continue, with arrivals and returns among the cast which reshuffle the cards. If the fans are still there, without Ellen Pompeo, will that encourage the show’s teams to continue if – unfortunately! – she decided not to come back at all in case of renewal for a season 20?
Asked about her temporary departure, the actress told Deadline: “Grey’s Anatomy will be fine without me. I will still do the monologues (…) I will come back for the season finale and we will see if we can continue.“
“I will always be part of the seriessays Ellen Pompeo. I am an associate producer. I spent two decades of my career here, it’s my heart and my soul. I’ll never really be gone as long as the show goes on.”
To be followed closely…
