It’s been almost a year since Arrow bowed out on The CW. But before bidding farewell to fans, the series introduced a potential spin-off titled Green Arrow and the Canaries on the occasion of a backdoor pilot. Without news of the progress of this project since, the CW has just announced that it would not finally see the light of day.
The pilot, broadcast on the occasion of episode 9 of season 8 ofArrow, transported us to the future, in 2040, alongside Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara), and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), as they returned to the fight after 20 years of calm in Star City .
Cancellation of Green Arrow and the Canaries does not mark the end of the Arrowverse, however. Batwoman season 2, with a new actress in the title role, arrives on January 17th, season 7 of The Flash arrives on February 23rd and season 4 of Black Lightning is scheduled for February 8th. The 13 episodes of the first season of the newcomer, Superman & Lois will be broadcast from February 23.
In terms of new projects, the CW is developing a series on Wonder girl from the characters created by Joëlle Jones and another on the comics Naomi which will be written and produced by Ava DuVernay (In Their Eyes, Selma). Finally, the fourth and final season of Black Lightning will be the opportunity to introduce a new spin-off on the character of “Painkiller”. The CW is therefore not ready to end the series of superheroes on its channel …
