This summer, France TV’s platform for young adults will unveil its new creation: a dark and pop teen-drama in which the fate of four teenage girls will be sealed by a terrible accident …
Chloe, Ruby, Sofia and Constance, alias the “girlsquad”, thought they were living a radiant summer the day after the baccalaureate but who will see their lives change after a nightmarish evening. Run over by a car, Anaïs is found on the side of the road, plunged into a coma. Will the “girlsquad” withstand the trials, revelations and conflicts that will follow one another?
Dedicated to teen series with SKAM France, Mental or even Stalk, Francetvslash will go the extra mile this summer with Girlsquad, a teenage thriller both sunny and tinged with mystery, presented as a “Pretty Little Liars on the West Coast“by the platform.
Besides the famous teen drama American, the pitch of the series is reminiscent of a certain cult horror film from the 1990s, Remember … last summer, in which a group of students fled after having run over a woman by car.
With this intrigue loaded with pop references, the series is created by Estelle Surbranche, ex-DJ and author of the thriller So came the night, and Sébastien Fabioux, writing director for the daily France 2 series Un Si Grand Soleil, which is full of teenage intrigues on many strong themes, such as harassment or sexism.
On the casting side, if we will find familiar faces like those of Juliette Arnaud (Clem) and Stéphane Rideau (The White Sandals), new talents will take their first steps in front of the screen to embody the heroines: Paloma Vauthier, Uma Couji , Lola Saint-Gilles or Apollonia Luisetti (Suzanne). See you in July 2021 on Francetvslash!
