From March 18 to 25, the Series Mania festival will be held for the fourth time in Lille, the largest European event entirely dedicated to series, which announced its program today.
Just a few months after its last edition, which was held from August 26 to September 2, 2021, the Séries Mania festival returns, still in Lille, for a 2022 edition which will take place from March 18 to 25. And which promises to be, once again, rich in new series, new seasons, and prestigious guests from all over the world and all walks of life.
“In 2021, due to particularly painful health restrictions for the world of culture, Series Mania was held at the end of August. Here we are again, six months later! The organization of two editions so close to each other in time has certainly confined, for our teams, to a balancing act… But it has not affected our critical enthusiasm, nor the richness and diversity of the proposals received: 331 series from 46 different countries were submitted to us!“, explain Rodolphe Belmer, President of Séries Mania, and Laurence Herszberg, General Manager of the festival.
“We watched them in less than four months, observing a certain recurrence of subjects echoing current events or history, in other words reality. “The big series watch the world, and what do you watch yourself? », apostrophize our posters mischievously. Because in a way, indeed, watching series is watching the world. This world has been roughed up for two years, so we are infinitely happy, in 2022, even if it remains difficult to travel from the United States or Asia, to find most of our guests and audiences in the flesh. and in bones!“.
For eight days, the 2022 edition of Series Mania will welcome prestigious guests of honor, such as Michael Hirst, the British showrunner to whom we owe Vikings, who will come to present his new series Billy The Kid. But also Nathalie Baye, Isabelle Nanty, and Mathieu Kassovitz, for exceptional public meetings around their careers.
The jury for the international competition will notably be made up of Cécile de France and the singer Yseult, while that for the international panorama, which will be 100% female, will be chaired by Anne Berest (Mytho), who will be surrounded by the singer-songwriter -Israeli performer Roni Alter, Quebec filmmaker Sophie Deraspe (Antigone, Bête Noire), and singer and actress Sofia Essaïdi (La Promesse).
Finally, in terms of events and previews, festival-goers will be able to discover seasons 2 of HPI, En Thérapie, L’Opéra, or La Chronique des Bridgertons, season 3 of Atlanta, as well as the French series of SF Parallèles, which will arrive on March 23 on Disney+.
While the teams of Skam France and En Famille will come to meet the public, who will also have the opportunity to test many activities during the festival.
