Fugitive Doctor Confronts Classic ‘Who’ Villain on BBC

The Fugitive Doctor confronts a classic ‘Who’ villain on BBC

You can read more about it here:

  • Jo Martin, Fugitive Doctor’s actor, met a Dalek during a recent BBC visit.
  • The Fugitive Doctor is a mysterious Time Lord who makes only limited appearances on the main Doctor Who series.
  • In Doctor Who expanded media including a Big Finish Audio Drama and comics, the story of The Fugitive Doctor is explored.

Jo Martin, the Fugitive Doctor actress, met a classic Doctor Who antagonist during a visit to BBC. Martin’s Doctor Who debut was in “Fugitive Of The Judoon” from season 12. It was revealed she was an incarnation previously unknown of the title character hiding on Earth. Fugitive Doctor was a previous version of William Hartnell’s First Doctor. He acted as an agent for the clandestine Division, and took on missions from Time Lords.

Martin posted a picture on her Twitter page of her standing next to a bronze Dalek from the Time War era.

Martin jokingly said that the meeting was not a problem, even though the Doctor is usually one of Skaro’s arch-enemies. She had a great mood when the encounter took place.

This is only the beginning of the story behind the mysterious story about a fugitive doctor

Martin’s Doctor is the most mysterious Time Lord incarnation to date. There has been only one adventure featuring the Fugitive Doctor on the main Doctor Who series, and that was her first appearance in “Fugitive Of The Judoon.” Martin’s Doctor has also appeared in flashbacks that the Thirteenth Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, experienced or through constructs such as the Matrix and the Doctor’s Emergency Hologram Protocols.

The Fugitive Doctor is still explored by Doctor Who in its expanded media. This dives into her past before she ended up in Totters Lane’s scrapyard. The Doctor Who Originscomic was written by Jody houser and illustrated by Roberta Ingranata. It ran for four issues between June 2022 to September 2022. Martin will reprise her role as the Fugitive Dr. A Big Finish audio series about the Fugitive doctor is in development.

Due to the Fugitive’s past, her life is a mystery. Her morals are also potentially murky. It will be fascinating to explore this part of Chris Chibnall’s tenure as Doctor Who Showrunner. There are no clues as to when Martin might return, but her meeting with one of Time Lords’ deadly enemies is certain to create interest.

Max’s Doctor Who collection includes Jo Martin as The Fugitive Doctor.
