While many directors have once filmed their sons or daughters, these are often stealth appearances or very secondary roles. Judd Apatow or Clint Eastwood have, for example, several times rotated their offspring and, more recently, Alexandre Astier included 6 of his 7 children in the cast of Kaamelott – First part.
But some filmmakers offer larger roles to their offspring, and sometimes even give them leading roles. This is the case of Sean Penn, whose daughter bursts onto the screen in his latest film, Flag Day, or the 12 other directors below.
Sean Penn films Dylan Penn in “Flag Day”
If Dylan Penn took her first steps as an actress in 2015 in the horror film Condemned and then appeared in Elvis & Nixon in 2016, it was her father who really revealed her to the general public. thanks to Flag Day, currently in theaters. Lisa Azuelos has called on her daughter Thaïs Alessandrin several times for her feature films. Best known for her work as a director, Sofia Coppola dabbled in comedy in her youth, especially for her father Francis Ford Coppola. If she has, most of the time, made the figuration for him, one of his characters marked the spirits: that of Mary Corleone, daughter of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in The Godfather III.
