Available on Salto in France, “Friends: The Reunion”, the reunion episode shot seventeen years after the end of the cult series sees many guests parade. Including Lady Gaga who shares a duet with Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe) on “Smelly Cat”.
Awaited by millions of fans across the planet, the special reunion episode of Friends, entitled Friends: The Reunion, has finally been available since Thursday on HBO Max in the United States and on Salto in France, before an upcoming broadcast on TF1 in a dubbed version, with the French voices of the series.
Seventeen years after the end of the cult sitcom, which had 10 seasons and 236 episodes, Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Courteney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matt LeBlanc (Joey), Matthew Perry (Chandler) , and David Schwimmer (Ross) find themselves in the settings of Friends, reconstructed for the occasion, in order to recall their best memories and to share with us some unpublished anecdotes. For a result 100% guaranteed nostalgia, between laughter and tears.
And while this special episode is marked by the appearance of memorable former guests of the series, including Tom Selleck (Richard), Maggie Wheeler (Janice), or Thomas Lennon (Joey’s hand twin), it also sees many other stars parade on the screen, such as Justin Bieber, David Beckham, or Lady Gaga, who as fans of Friends were keen to be part of the party.
During a necessarily tasty musical sequence, which you can discover in the player below, Lady Gaga joins Lisa Kudrow in the setting of Central Perk, the café where the six friends constantly met, and shares a duet with her on “Smelly Cat” (“You stink the cat” in French), the “hit” of Phoebe.
Before a gospel choir arrives to transform this guitar-voice cover into a much more rhythmic version … which will not fail to recall the episode of season 2 of Friends where Phoebe shoots the music video for her song and discovers that her voice has been replaced by that of another and choristers have been added. A wink necessarily wanted which, once again, will bring back good memories to the fans.
At the end of this duet with Lady Gaga, Lisa Kudrow also briefly revives Phoebe by letting out a very funny “I manage better on my own”. Before, on a more moving note, the singer to whom we owe the hits “Born This Way” and “Bad Romance” thanks her for playing the character “different” from the Serie. “The one who was really herself”.
A nice proof of the heritage and the strength of the series, even seventeen years after the end of Friends.
