From July 2, the “Fear Street” trilogy arrives on Netflix. Three horror films adapted from the novels for young adults of RL Stine, the author of “Goosebumps”. Check out the trailer.
RL Stine’s stories continue to inspire and terrorize crowds. After the surprise success of the film Goosebumps and its sequel, released in 2018, the Netflix platform offers Fear street, a trilogy adapted from three of the writer’s novels.
Three films, all directed by filmmaker Leigh Janiak, whose actions take place over three different periods against the backdrop of one and the same city, Shadyside. Let horror fans be reassured, the tone of these Fear street is far from the good-natured atmosphere of Goosebumps since the films received an R classification, i.e. forbidden to under 17 years old unaccompanied by an adult.
Fear Street Part 1: 1994, expected July 2
What is it about ? In the wake of a brutal tragedy in Shadyside, Ohio, a group of teenagers accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for more than 300 years.
The director specifies that the first part of this trilogy will be inspired by the iconic slashers of the 90s, starting with Scream by Wes Craven. At the casting, spectators will find Maya Hawke, Olivia Scott Welch, Ashley Zukerman, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Jordana Spiro, or even Jordyn Dinatale.
Fear Street Part 2: 1978, due out July 9
What is it about ? Shadyside, 1978. School is out and Camp Nightwing activities are about to begin. But when another “Shadysider” is possessed by the urge to kill, the fun turns into a gruesome struggle for survival …
As with the previous film, Leigh Janiak explains wanting to tap into the slashers of the 70s and 80s, such as Friday 13, Claws of the night or Halloween, released in … 1978. At the casting, spectators will find, among others, Sadie Sink, Olivia Scott Welch, Chiara Aurelia, and Jordyn Dinatale.
Fear Street Part 3: 1666, expected July 16
What is it about ? A colonial town is caught on a hysterical witch hunt that has deadly consequences for centuries to come, and it’s up to the teens of 1994 to try and end their town’s curse, before it is over. too late.
In this historical part, the director specifies that she found her inspiration in Terrence Malick’s film, The new World.
