DNA, Wakanim, Crunchyroll: the animated ones from May 25 to June 1: Berserk, Ken the survivor … – News Séries on TV

This week, we are talking about powerful mercenary, martial arts and motorcycles in our 3 animated recommendations to discover on your specialized platforms!

Berserk tells us the story of the meeting of Guts and Griffith, leader of the Falcon Troop, a band of mercenaries in the pay of the kingdom of Midland. From this meeting will be born an ambiguous friendship, but nevertheless efficient: the presence of Guts, warrior with the disproportionate sword, will quickly prove essential to the ambition of the young Griffith, swashbuckler and outstanding tactician.

The anime is thus the account of the rise and fall of the Falcon Troop, and of the relation between Guts and Griffith, particularly complex, between relation of interest (Griffith uses the force of Guts), mutual respect ( both see each other as soldiers), and deep affection (each inexplicably needs the other’s presence).

On May 6, 2021, Kentaro Miura, legendary author of the manga Berserk, left us, leaving his work unfinished. If you’re new to this landmark, it’s time to jump into the 1997 anime adaptation, available on Crunchyroll.

Please note, this series is not for everyone! Particularly violent and gory (less than the manga though), she turns out to be raw and uncompromising in her way of offering us her themes.

Religion, pedophilia, incest, rape, massacres … the story is particularly trying, showing a radically dark image of the human soul. A masterpiece of darkness that will leave an indelible mark in the history of manga and anime … and in the viewer.

After a devastating nuclear attack, Earth is a vast desert, where water has become a more precious commodity than gold or silver. In this chaotic world reigns the law of the strongest. In search of his beloved, Ken is the heir to the Hokuto School of Martial Arts. He uses his art to defend the innocent against formidable martial arts experts.

Perhaps one of the most famous manga in the world! The anime adaptation ofHokuto no Ken, renamed in France Ken the survivor, has experienced many adventures in our regions. Due to its sequences of explicit violence (despite censorship from the manga), the dubbing of the series has been heavily sanitized, including the addition of many humorous lines. Hinting that the anime is a kind of parody action comedy, the French version is now considered cult by many spectators.

The story of Ken the survivor in France is also that of a misunderstanding; proposed in a children’s show while it is aimed at adolescents, even young adults, the series has become the target of complaints by family associations against the content of Japanese anime broadcast on television during the 80 years.

Still associated with this reputation as an audiovisual “bad-boy”, Ken the survivor However, it is worth being (re) discovered and its arrival on the DNA platform offers us the ideal opportunity to see this major shônen often imitated, but never equaled!

It’s the start of summer! Koguma, a second year high school student, is suddenly abandoned by her mother who represents her only family. Distraught, the young girl gradually begins to sink into depression, plagued by a whole bunch of questions …

But his fate changes when someone offers him to buy a Honda Super Cub motorcycle. Surprisingly, this little racing car allows Koguma to regain a taste for life. She then rediscovers her daily life from a new angle and even makes a small group of friends, all passionate about mechanics.

As pretty visually as it is warm, Super Cub is THE relaxation series of the season. Despite a rather dark pitch at first glance, this adaptation of Tone Koken’s light novel is incredibly relaxing and very good for morale.

Carried by endearing characters and high-quality OST, the series is all the more pleasant to follow. The depth and subtlety of the story will charm you and make you want to go on the roads in your turn, whether you are fans of mobs or not.

A slice of life without big stakes, nor reversal of situation but which nevertheless teaches us to make the most of the small pleasures of life. Through the eyes of her heroine, Super Cub celebrates hope and simplicity. All you have to do is get on board!
