The fantasy film “Artemis Fowl”, adapted from Eoin Colfer’s youth novels, will be available exclusively on the Disney + platform from June 12, 2020.
The fight between Artemis Fowl and the Fairy People will be played on Disney +. The platform has just announced the exclusive release, on June 12, of the fantastic feature film by Kenneth Branagh.
Adapted from the fantasy novels of Eoin Colfer (published by Gallimard Jeunesse), the film stages the young Ferdia Shaw in the skin of a wealthy genius of evil launched into a conflict against the powerful and mysterious creatures of an underground world, who could be behind the disappearance of his father (Colin Farrell). Alongside him in this epic adventure, readers will find Lara McDonnell (the elven captain Holly Short), Judi Dench (Commander Root, head of FARFADET, the fairy police recognition department) or Josh Gad (the dwarf gaffer and kleptomaniac Mulch Diggums).
Kenneth Branagh, already at work on the 2015 Cinderella live for the studio, presents his young anti-hero as a character “intelligent, funny and rather cool, able to take you into new worlds, meet unforgettable characters and mix magic and chaos. His family is everything to him, and, even if he will never recognize him, he is certainly as proud as I am that families around the world can now experience his very first and incredible adventures on Disney +. “
Note that the posting of Artemis Fowl will first be in the original version with subtitles, the confinement linked to the Coronavirus pandemic having impacted the dubbing studios. The French version will be offered by Disney + when technically possible.
