It was on the sidelines of its launch conference for Star that Disney + announced the start of production of 10 European series including 4 French. A first for the streaming giant.
With its 94 million paying subscribers worldwide, Disney + has established itself in less than a year as a formidable competitor for other streaming platforms. From next February 23, its catalog is expanding with the arrival of Star – either 250 films and more than one forty series. Among them, 4 originals Disney + star. But the American giant intends to offer even more content to its subscribers. This is why it was announced on the sidelines of the launch conference 10 new original European productions including 4 French.
Four new original French productions
Oussekine (Star): A series in 4 episodes directed by Antoine Chevrollier (Le Bureau des Légendes, Baron Noir) and co-written by Faïza Guène, Julien Lilti and Cédric Ido. It looks at the terrible events of December 5, 1986 which led to the death of Malik Oussekine, to which no series has ever been devoted. Centered on her family’s fight for justice, she will dive into the heart of the 80s to understand the impact this drama had on French society at the time.
Soprano (Star): This 6-episode documentary series will tell the story and journey of rapper Saïd M’Roumbaba, better known as Soprano. To life, to death tells how he became the star that everyone knows today and highlights the 3 acolytes with whom he built his success. From his first steps in the northern districts of Marseille to the preparation of his new album until his tour of the stadiums to come in the summer of 2022, it is also a story of France and rap that is told through the destiny of this French urban pop icon.
Family weekend (Disney +): A jubilant and family comedy in 8 episodes of 26 minutes created by Baptiste Filleul. She plunges us into the heart of a “super recomposed” tribe: a father, his exes, his daughters… and his new companion. A chaotic, funny, and irresistible tribe that meets every weekend.
Parallels (Disney +): A fantasy series in 6 episodes of 45 minutes created by Quoc Dang Tran (Marianne) and co-written by Anastasia Heinzl. She follows four teenagers whose lives are turned upside down when a mysterious event propels them into parallel dimensions. They will do everything to understand what happened and try to go back.
Disney + advises that the casting of these productions is in progress or that filming will begin soon. It will therefore be necessary to wait a little before discovering some images …

The Good Mothers (Star): An Italian detective series of 6×45 minutes inspired by real events. Alessandra Cerreti, a young newly appointed prosecutor, has been given the colossal task of putting members of the ‘Ndrangheta, the Calabrian mafia, behind bars. To do this, she has the idea of setting their wives and daughters against them.

Feyenoord Rotterdam: A Dutch sports documentary in 6 x 35 minutes. Subscribed to supporting roles, adored by millions of Dutch people, Feyenoord is a closed and secret world. No Dutch football team had yet agreed to go behind the scenes. It’s now done.
Note also that Disney + will offer even more content to its French subscribers in the coming months. The local platform announces in particular the acquisition of 24 films (The Artist, Jappeloup…) and 21 French series (Fais pas ci, faire pas ça, I promise you, Moloch…).
