CANNESERIES: The Revolution on Netflix, a historic … and fantastic series

In partnership with CANNESERIES, AlloCiné unveils a preview series throughout this season 3 of the Festival. Today, spotlight on La Révplution, soon on Netflix.

Created by the duo Aurélien Molas / Gaïa Guasti (Une Île), La Révolution is one of the biggest expectations this fall in terms of French series. The series immerses us in the Kingdom of France of 1787, and offers us an alternative version of the events that led to the French Revolution and turned the century of darkness into that of the Enlightenment.

What if the rich were contaminated by a disease that would push them to attack the people, while they are dying of hunger in the streets of Paris? A spark that could well trigger an unprecedented revolt …

Served by a gallery of promising young actors including Amir El Kacem (Hippocrate), Marilou Aussilloux (De Gaulle), Isabel Aimé Gonzalez Sola (Engrenages) and Julien Frison, this first season skilfully mixes the fantastic and the historical epic, deploys means up to the ambitions of his story. In these tormented times, seeing a fiction bet on seizing the history of France to rewrite it on the side of the oppressed is a real breath of fresh air.
