The day after the official selection team of the Cannes Film Festival spoke, explaining that they were thinking of other “forms” to maintain the 2020 edition of the Festival, the parallel sections sent a joint press release, grouping together the Fortnight Directors, Critics’ Week and ACID, announcing the cancellation of their edition.

“Following the announcement by the President of the Republic of Monday April 13, 2020 prohibiting any festival until mid-July, the parallel sections of the Cannes Festival note that the postponement envisaged at the end of June at the beginning of July is no longer possible Consequently, the Directors ‘Fortnight, the Critics’ Week and the ACID regret to announce the cancellation of their Cannes editions 2020.
The health crisis with which we are confronted does not allow us to foresee concretely the following events. In order to support the entire cinematographic sector, which is very affected by the current situation, each section, in consultation with the Cannes Film Festival, is however studying the best way to continue supporting the films submitted for their 2020 edition.
