Following the announcement of Bruce Willis’ illness, the reactions of his colleagues continue to flow. For their part, the Razzies announce that they are canceling the award for the worst Bruce Willis film of 2021.
Tributes to Bruce Willis continue to pour in after news of his illness was announced. Yesterday M. Night Shyamalan, Sylvester Stallone or even Kevin Smith reacted to the Instagram post of Rumor Willis, announcing the retirement of his father. Today it’s John Travolta and Haley Joel Osment’s turn to honor the actor.
John Travolta, who shared the poster for Pulp Fiction with Bruce Willis and worked with the comedian for Hello Mom Here Baby (Bruce Willis lent his voice to Mickey) posted a touching message on Instagram. The two actors recently reunited in front of Chuck Russell’s camera for the yet to be released action flick Paradise City.
“Bruce and I became good friends when we shared two of our biggest hits together, Pulp Fiction and Hello Mommy Here Baby. Years later he said to me, ‘John, I just want you to know that when something good happens to you, it feels like it’s happening to me.” That’s how generous a soul he has. I love you Bruce.”
Retirement of Bruce Willis: the reactions of Stallone and Kevin Smith, who had criticized the star of Die Hard
For his part, Haley Joel Osment, who gave the reply to Bruce Willis in the film of M. Night Shyamalan, Sixth Sense expresses his admiration for the comedian.
“It was hard to find the right words for this person I admired on the big screen before having the chance to meet her in person. She is a true legend who has enriched our lives thanks to her singular career which spans almost half a century. I’m so grateful to have been able to see this with my own eyes and for all the works he leaves for us to enjoy for years and years to come. I just wanted to express the respect and deep admiration I have for Bruce and his family, who are moving forward with the courage and good humor that has always characterized them..”
Jason Blum’s production company, Blumhouse also praises the career of the American actor: “The work of Bruce Willis will live forever in our favorite films and series. And for the record, he’s right. Die Hard is not a Christmas movie, “it’s a fucking Bruce Willis movie“.”
Cancellation of the Razzie
For their part, after apologizing for the creation of the category Worst film with Bruce Willis of 2021, specifying that they did not know anything about the state of health of the comedian, the Razzies Awards have just announced that they are canceling the “Prize” awarded to Bruce Willis for Cosmic Sin
Bad netizens’ comments left below the Razzies’ apology tweet ultimately convinced the creators to cancel the category.
In a statement, Razzies co-founders Maureen Murphy and John JB Wilson said: “After careful consideration, the Razzies have made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently revealed diagnosis. If a person’s medical condition is a factor in their decision-making and/or performance, we recognize that it is not appropriate to give them a Razzie“.
Wilson and Murphy added that the “extenuating circumstances” also apply to Shelley Duvall in The Shining. “We’ve since discovered that Duvall’s performance was impacted by Stanley Kubrick’s treatment of him throughout production. We would like to take this opportunity to rescind this nomination as well..”
