netflix

Among the biggest starts recorded by the platform since its launch, The Bridgerton Chronicle is one of Netflix’s biggest hits. While some choose to watch the series adapted from Julia Quinn’s books for its historical references, others are passionate about the exciting adventures of the couple formed by Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) and Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).

The series follows the story of Daphne, the daughter of an influential upper-class London family during the British regency of the 19th century. Forced to attend balls to choose a suitor, she makes a deal with Simon, who agrees to pretend to be her lover in order to ward off single people who are determined to win the young woman’s heart.

The third season of Bridgerton not yet having a broadcast date on Netflix, here is a selection of five historical series to watch now on the various streaming platforms!

OUTLANDER

Like Bridgerton, Outlander is the adaptation of a series of best-selling novels, and offers many steamy love scenes between its main characters, Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The series brings a hint of modernity to the historical genre as the plot plunges its heroine from the 20th century right into the heart of the Jacobite uprisings of the mid-18th century, due to a trip to the past at the start of the first season.
