In development on the side of HBO Max, the film adaptation of Blue Beetle, superhero from DC Comics, has just found its main actor.

In project for nearly three years on the side of the Warner, the adaptation of Blue Beetle finally seems to take shape. Directed by filmmaker pOrthodox Angel Manuel Soto – which is currently preparing a new version of Transformers – the film has already found its main performer.
It’s Xolo Maridueña, known for his role as Miguel Diaz in the Netflix series Cobra Kai, which will slip into the costume of the superhero of the DC Comics universe. The information was formalized on the red carpet of the premiere of The Suicide Squad where the director and the actor had gone.
Of Mexican origin, Xolo Maridueña will lend his features to Jaime Reyes, a young teenager who sees his life transform when he comes into contact with a blue beetle that gives him superhuman powers.
In the comics, Jaime Reyes, who first appeared in 2006, is the third character to wear the Blue Beetle mask. Created by Will Eisner and Charles Nicholas Wojtkowski in 1939, the hero joined the columns of DC comics in 1983 after the redemption of the rights.
This film project, intended for the HBO Max platform, is scheduled for 2023 and will be the first superhero film to feature a Latin actor in the lead role.
