Somerset House is known for its successful exhibitions and after a tough time for galleries they are making a big comeback with a major Beano exhibition this fall. Beano: The Art of Breaking the Rules is a celebration of the world’s oldest weekly comic book (and also coincides with the 70th birthday of Beano Dennis icon) and explores the impact of the spirit of mischief and Beano’s rebellion on alternative pop culture.

Curated by artist and longtime Beano fan, Andy Holden, the exhibition will feature original drawings and rare archival artifacts alongside contemporary and new works by Bedwyr Williams, Hardeep Pandhal, Heather Phillipson, Holly Hendry, Lindsey Mendick, Sarah Lucas, Simeon Barclay and Martin Rowson. There will also be a Beanotown Museum showcasing how the creators imagined the original characters, recreations of places like Bash Street School and Bunkerton Castle, and an interactive workshop space where you can free your own. creative spirit. Tickets will go on sale soon, so watch this space.
